- Conducting amphibious and small boat operations
- Navigating ship and vessels
- Guarding and protecting naval institutions and other defence force bases
- Maintaining personal arms and ammunition
- Maintaining safety and security of personnel and equipment on board or attached to the ship
- Maintaining combat readiness state of vessels, personnel, weapons, explosives, sensors and communication equipment
- Providing clearance diving, underwater repairs, ordnance disposal and demolition, and search and rescue services
- Collecting, correlating and disseminating sensor information to create an accurate and timely tactical pictures
- Employing and operating surface/subsurface-based defence systems, shipboard weapons and other advanced specialist military weapons and equipment
